(Springfield, IL) — The folks in charge of Illinois’ public colleges and universities want a lot more money. The Illinois Board of Higher Education yesterday sent lawmakers a request for a 16-and-a-half percent budget increase. That comes to about 314-million-dollars overall. The IBHE says Illinois’ public universities would see 110-million of that. IBHE boss Tom Cross says it’s time that Illinois reinvest in public universities.
