A jury trial date has been set for a Vandalia man charged with four counts of production of child pornography. 59-year old Dennis J. Pickens made an appearance in Fayette County Court on Tuesday with defense counsel Troy Payne for a scheduled pre-trial hearing in the matter. Payne, who was appointed to the case following the withdrawal of public defender William Starnes, informed the court that at this time he is looking at motions to possibly file including a motion to suppress. Payne relayed that he was ok at this time with setting a date for jury trial during the January trial week with the trial now set for January 14 at 8:30am and a pre-trial hearing scheduled for January 2 at 10am. Pickens is charged with four counts of production of child pornography as he is alleged to have made four videos, three depicting a victim under the age of 18 and one video allegedly containing two victims under the age of 18. Pickens remains in the Fayette County Jail on the $700,000 bond.
