The unemployment rate was up slightly in most Illinois metro areas last month. The October jobless rate rose in 12 of the state’s metro areas compared to year-ago levels. State Department of Employment Security spokesperson Bob Gough says some of that can attributed to more people looking for jobs and not finding them right away. He notes there were jobs added compared to last year.
Areas that lost jobs over the year include Springfield, Carbondale and Peoria.
