The Regional Office of Education for Bond, Fayette, Effingham, Montgomery and Christian Counties implemented a pilot program this year at its alternative education centers in Vandalia and Effingham which involve a social emotional learning curriculum. The program is only just a few months old, but Angela Reeter, a Program Director in Educational Services for the ROE, says the administration at both centers have seen positive results already this early in the program.
The pilot program is planned out to be implemented over a three-year period, but Reeter says they will work to make sure that they are bringing things along at a pace that works best for the students and teachers.
Along with beginning the new program in the alternative education centers for ROE #3and planning to move it int other districts in the region, the staff at the ROE has also presented about the program across the state.
