A vehicle fire led to Interstate 70 west bound being closed for a few hours on Tuesday night in Fayette County. Illinois State Police reported they were handling a vehicle fire on I-70 westbound at mile marker 63.5, with both lanes closed. And, all westbound traffic at that time was being re-routed onto U.S. Route 40 at the Brownstown exit and coming thru Vandalia. That led to several vehicles being stuck on I-70 westbound behind the vehicle and led to slow moving traffic on Route 40 and into Vandalia. The lanes were re-opened just after 8 pm on Tuesday night. No full report has been released at this time on the incident.
