Jimmy Lee “Jim” McCarty, 88, of Vandalia, IL passed away at 6:00 PM, Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at Fayette county Hospital.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Parkview Free Methodist Church, Vandalia with Rev. John Glennon officiating. Interment will follow in Griffith Cemetery, Brownstown. Military Rites will be accorded at the graveside by Crawford-Hale American Legion Post # 95. Visitation will be held prior to services from 9:00- 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 17, 2018 at the church. Memorials may be made to Parkview Free Methodist Church or Fayette County Hospital. Jimmy Lee McCarty was born July 24, 1930 in Vandalia, IL, the son of Charles and Ruby (Baldwin) McCarty. Jim was a United States Army Veteran. He married Pearl Joann Tackett on May 24, 1953; together, they raised two children and celebrated 65 years of marriage. Jim was the owner/operator of McCarty’s Barber Shop in Vandalia. He was a member of Parkview Free Methodist Church and past member of Vandalia Crawford-Hale American Legion Post # 95.
He is survived by his wife, Pearl “Joann” McCarty; sons, Thomas McCarty and wife Marcie and Edwin McCarty and wife, Kathy; all of Vandalia; grandchildren, Megan McCarty, Dana McCarty, Josh McCarty and wife Andria, and Kari and husband Dustin Fulk; great-grandchildren, Brenton, Everlie, Quinn, and Daxton; and a sister, Shirley Page of Hillsboro.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Dorothy Blankenship.
