The area’s State Senate seat will remain Republican, as Jason Plummer gained a strong victory on Tuesday night to win the 54th District State Senate seat. Overall, Plummer took about 70% of the vote to defeats Democrat Brian Stout of Vandalia. In Fayette County, Plummer 4996 votes, or 68.48%, compared to 2165 votes, or 29.67%, for Stout.
Plummer will now take over the seat held by Kyle McCarter. McCarter decided to not run for another term. And, is the the nominee to be the next U.S. Ambassador to Kenya.
