We hear a little today from both sides of the proposed 1/2% sales tax increase that will appear on the November 6th ballot for City of Vandalia residents. Vandalia Alderman B. John Clark says they believe the sales tax is the most fair for area residents, because of the number of folks who travel thru Vandalia, due to Interstate 70 and tourist attractions.
City of Vandalia resident Roger Hill does agree that out of town folks spending money in Vandalia is a benefit. But, his question is just how much does that count for.
The 1/2% sales tax increase will appear on the November 6th ballot for City of Vandalia residents to decide on. If it passed 1/4% would go to provide funding for a new Water Treatment Plant and 1/4% would go to the police pension fund.
