Among the dozens of races on the ballot on November 6th is a 1/2% sales tax for the City of Vandalia. City of Vandalia Aldermen B. John Clark, Steve Barker and Russ Stunkel appeared on the Morning Cafe with Dan Michel recently to talk about the increase and what benefits it would be for the community. B. John Clark says that the increase would help to pay for a new Water Treatment Plant for the City of Vandalia.
In all the sales tax increase is for 1/2%—-1/4% for the infrastructure costs for the new water planet and 1/4% for the police pension fund. The City of Vandalia’s current sales tax is 6.75%. And, Alderman Steve Barker says they have learned that is very low compared to other area communities that sit along the interstate.
