A Vandalia man was found guilty by a jury on Wednesday of domestic battery and resisting a peace officer. 31-year old Terre Brown was found guilty of domestic battery as information says he “made physical contact of an insulting or provoking nature to a family or household member” by pushing, kicking and slapping the victim. The resisting count states that Brown refused to obey the orders of VPD Officer Redman and pulled away from the officer as he was being detained. Following jury selection on Tuesday, all witnesses and evidence from the state and defense were presented on Wednesday with the case then going to the jury just after 2:00pm Wednesday afternoon. The jury returned its verdict of guilty on both counts after just an hour of deliberation. Brown was remanded to the custody of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office with $10,000 bond applied. Sentencing for Brown is scheduled for November 26 at 1pm.
