The state is increasing cyber security measures for the November General Election. The State Board of Elections has been working to shore up any holes after Russian hackers attacked the statewide voter database in 2016. For the first time a special Illinois National Guard unit will be able to help if needed says Adjutant General Richard Hayes.
The board is working to get all of the state’s local election authorities through the new cyber navigator program, where risk assessments are conducted and training is available.
