This school year has marked the first year of the Fayette County CEO program with ten students from three county schools participating. Two of those students, Reyna Arenas and Blake Barth, were on hand to give a small presentation to the Vandalia School Board on what the CEO program is and what the students have been and will be learning throughout the course of the year. Barth explained to the board a few of the real-life business skills they are learning.
And Arenas explained that the students also have a chance to visit area businesses and to invite speakers to their classes to hear first-hand the experiences of local business leaders.
With the students creating their own businesses to present at a trade show at the end of the year, Barth and Arenas said a major step in that process will happen later this week as they are matched with mentors.
The CEO class has already completed one small endeavor as they sold advertising for name badges that they wear to each class, each trip out in the community and other CEO activities. The money raised from the ad sales will help fund their class business project coming up later this school year.
