After a long process and the City of Vandalia and the other entities in the county involved having to reapply more than once, the enterprise zone has been approved. Mayor Rick Gottman announced at Monday night’s City Council meeting that he and Fayette County Board members had been notified about the approval.
Just one year ago, the city was notified during the enterprise zone renewal process that the number of accepted applications was being dropped from 9 to 6 with Vandalia’s application being denied. However, a new application process was immediately opened up and Vandalia was able to redo portions of its application prior to the deadline at the end of 2017 for resubmission.
