A pedestrian was injured in an accident north of St. Elmo on Tuesday evening. The accident occurred at 5:06 pm at 2150 East, about 1 mile north of St. Elmo. Illinois State Police reports indicate that a pedestrian, a 17 year old male from St. Elmo, was walking southbound in the northbound lane on 2150 East. A vehicle, driven by a 16 year old male from St. Elmo, was traveling northbound and has just come over a hill crest. State Police say the driver stated he observed the pedestrian but was unable to stop to avoid the collision. The front of the vehicle struck the pedestrian. The pedestrian was then transported by Rural Med to St. Elmo High School, where he was then air lifted by Air Evac to St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
