The Illinois Department of Public Health says it’s time to get your annual flu shot. The vaccine isn’t perfect, but it can help protect you and your family from getting sick says the State’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Jen Layden. She says those afraid of needles will be relieved to hear the nasal spray is back this year.
Layden says this is the ideal time to get immunized since flu season usually begins in October and it takes 2 weeks for the vaccine to become most effective.
