A Vandalia man has been arrested and charged with four counts of production of child pornography. 59-year old Dennis J. Pickens made an appearance in Fayette County Court on Monday following probable cause being found on Friday for a warrant to be issued which was executed that same day. During Monday’s appearance, Pickens was informed of the charges against him as well as his rights and the possible penalties for such charges and was also informed of the $700,000 bond set in the case. According to information, the four charges stem from four videos allegedly produced by Pickens, three depicting a victim under the age of 18 and one video containing two victims under the age of 18. Pickens requested a public defender and has been appointed Public Defender William Starnes. A pretrial order has also been entered barring Pickens from any contact with the victims or their family including persons under the age of 18. A preliminary hearing in the matter has been set for October 11 at 10am. Pickens remains in the Fayette County Jail on the $700,000 bond.
