(Cumberland, GA) — Freddie Freeman belted a two-run homer to help the Braves beat the Cardinals 7-3 and avoid the sweep at SunTrust Park. Jack Flaherty gave up five runs and didn’t make it out of the fifth for the loss. Harrison Bader drilled a solo homer in the fifth for St. Louis, who had their three-game winning streak snapped and are clinging to the second NL Wild Card spot. The Cards are off today before beginning a three game set at home against the Giants tomorrow.

(Phoenix, AZ) — The Diamondbacks smacked three home runs en route to a 9-0 victory over the Cubs in Phoenix. Cole Hamels struggled, allowing seven runs in six frames for Chicago, who took two out of three in the series. The Cubs still hold a two and a half game over Milwaukee in the National League Central. They are off today following a stretch of 30 consecutive days with a scheduled game.
