With only a month and a half until the November election, campaign season in high gear. The Fayette County Democrats have hosted two big events this week with several local and state candidates in attendance. Kevin Hoerner, the Democrat candidate for Fifth District Appellate judge was on hand for both events and has been making his way around the 37 counties that stretch from Christian, Montgomery and Shelby counties all the way down to the southern tip of the state and make up the Fifth District. During his travels, Hoerner says one thing he hears most from voters is that they want a judge that is fair.
Hoerner has experience in many aspects of the laws as he has been a practicing attorney as well as well as serving as a Special Assistant Attorney General for the State of Illinois and Assistant State’s Attorney of St. Clair County. And Hoerner says that experience would be a benefit to him as a part of the appellate court that serves as such an important piece of the judicial system.
Hoerner will face Republican incumbent David K. Overstreet who has been assigned to the Fifth District Appellate Court since February 2017.
