(Columbus, OH) — The Redbirds are the 2018 Triple-A champions. Memphis captured the title by beating the Durham Bulls 14-4 in Columbus, Ohio. Alex Mejia was named MVP of the game after going 5-for-5 with a double, five RBI and three runs scored. With the win, Memphis secured its first Triple-A championship in four tries.

(Phoenix, AZ) — Javier Báez belted a two-run homer in the first inning as the Cubs pounded the Diamondbacks 9-1 in Phoenix. Daniel Murphy drilled his own two-run shot for Chicago, which extended its lead over Milwaukee to three and a half games in the NL Central. Mike Montgomery got the win. The Cubs’ magic number to clinch is eight.
