The Fayette County Democrats held their Annual Chicken Dinner on Saturday evening at the Vandalia American Legion. With less than two months to go until the November election, Fayette County Democrat Party Chairman Al McDowell says the dinner provides a great time for candidates to get out and meet people and answer questions.
This year’s dinner was a little different for McDowell who announced just over a week ago that he is now a write-in candidate for the Fayette County Board District 1 seat. McDowell says concerns with the county’s finances are fueling his write-in bid.
Fayette County Clerk candidate Donna Thull was in attendance for the dinner and says she has seen a lot of support as she campaigns in the county.
Fayette County Treasurer candidate Lucas Watson spoke of concerns he has heard while out in the county with a good amount of those dealing with taxes.
Also speaking at the dinner were Congressional candidate Kevin Gaither and Appellate Judge candidate Kevin Hoerner, and we will hear from both candidates coming up tomorrow on Newscenter.
