(St. Louis, MO) — Walker Buehler tossed eight inning of scoreless ball as the Dodgers shutout the Cardinals 3-0 in St. Louis. Buehler struck out nine in the win and Kenley Jansen worked a clean ninth for his 35th save. Yasiel Puig hit a pair of solo home runs to power the L.A. offense. The Dodgers moved into a tie with the Cardinals for the final NL Wild Card spot and are a half-game out of first in the NL West. Jack Flaherty surrendered one run over six innings to take the tough-luck loss for St. Louis. The Cardinals are on a three-game slide.
(Chicago, IL) — Ian Happ crushed the go-ahead three run homer in the seventh inning to help the Cubs rally past the Reds 3-2 at Wrigley Field. Dillon Maples was credited with the win and Jorge De La Rosa notched his first save of the season. Chicago sits atop the NL Central at 86-and-61. Jose Peraza and Joey Votto hit back-to-back homers for Cincinnati in the fourth inning. David Hernandez gave up three runs in less than one frame to take the loss as the Reds fell to 63-and-85.
