An area union is not pleased with the Fayette County Board’s decision to vote against a Prevailing Wage ordinance. On their Facebook page, the U.A. Plumbers and Pipefitters Local Union #653, which is out of Centralia, posted about the board’s decision. In their post, they state that “as of today we are 55 days away from the November General Election. Last night, the Fayette County Board gave us the best for the question of why labor unions have to be so involved in politics and why labor unions almost always support the Democrat party.” The Facebook post goes on to talk about the November General Election, and supporting Democrats for the Fayette County Board. The ordinance was voted down, 10 to 1, with 9 Republicans and one Democrat voting no. The Fayette County Board has a current make up of 12 Republicans and 2 Democrats.
