A Flood Warning remains in effect for the Kaskaskia River in Vandalia. The river started off last night at 3.8 feet—still well below the river’s 18 foot flood stage. But, it is expected to rise rapidly now that the heavy rains have arrived to the area. The river is now expected to rise above flood stage on Sunday morning and to crest at 25.1 feet on Monday evening. At that level, some of the levees could be overtopped and lead to flood in nearby fields.
