It was a warm week for Illinois fields as we hear in the weekly crop report. 5 days were suitable for fieldwork this past week and temperatures were about 3 1/2 degrees above normal. Crop Statistician Mark Schleusener says soybeans are turning color on 49 percent of acres.
36 of corn is now mature and 75 percent of the crop is rated in good to excellent condition. That’s down slightly from last week. Average statewide topsoil moisture improved to 4 percent very short, 17 percent short, 72 percent adequate and 7 percent surplus.
