Advocates are pushing to override the Governor’s veto of Tobacco 21 legislation. Under the bill, customers have be 21, instead of 18 to buy cigarettes in Illinois. Governor Bruce Rauner vetoed the bill citing a few concerns.
Senate President John Cullerton disagrees and says the bill will reduce the number of young smokers in Illinois and lower health care costs from tobacco-related illnesses. He is hoping lawmakers will override the veto during the November session.
