(St. Louis, MO) — The St. Louis Cardinals are removing the interim tag from manager Mike Shildt. The skipper says he appreciates the opportunity he’s been given.
The Cardinals have signed Shildt to a contract extension through the 2020 season. He has guided the team back into playoff contention following the firing of Mike Matheny in mid-July. The Cardinals are 27-and-12 since Shildt took over after the All-Star break. They currently hold the top NL wild card spot.
