(Chicago, IL) — Jon Lester hit a two-run single in the third in the Cubs’ 7-4 victory over the Mets in the series opener at Wrigley Field. Lester also allowed three runs in six frames in a no-decision. Anthony Rizzo smacked an RBI double in the first and a homer in the eighth for the North Siders, who have won six in-a-row. Jesse Chavez nailed down the save.

(Memphis, TN) — Adam Wainwright is coming off a strong outing in a rehab start for the Memphis Redbirds. Wainwright allowed three hits and struck out four in four shutout innings as Memphis beat the Nashville Sounds 2-0 in the regular season home finale at AutoZone Park. The righty hopes to rejoin the Cardinals when the rosters expand on September 1st. The division champion Redbirds conclude the regular season with seven games on the road at Round Rock and Nashville starting tonight.
