(Springfield, IL) — School kids across Illinois will no longer miss lunch because they can’t pay. Governor Bruce Rauner yesterday signed a new law that requires schools to give kids a free lunch on days when they don’t have money to buy the regular lunch. The law does allow schools to try and collect payment for school lunches, and if that fails, ask the state for an offset.
