After discussion during a Streets Committee meeting, the Vandalia City Council has approved a bid for street work in the area of 8th Street and Janette Drive in Vandalia. On Monday evening, a Streets Committee meeting was held prior to the full Vandalia City Council meeting with one of three topics being the discussion of bids for the road project. Public Works Director Marlin Filer gave committee members some background on what brought about the project.
And Filer explained that his ideal plan would to continue with improvements to Janette Drive in 2019 as well.
Mayor Rick Gottman during discussion expressed his concern with Randolph Street being an area that is also in need of street improvements.
After the discussion was wrapped up, the issue was then brought up to the full city council with the council voting unanimously to accept the low bid from Precise Construction to complete the street improvements 200 feet to the east of the intersection of 8th Streets and Janette Drive that just underwent improvements this past Spring.
