The State Department of Public Health is continuing its investigation into a rising number of foodborne illness in Illinois. Since mid-May there have been 243 people in Illinois who have fallen ill due to the cyclospora parasite says Public Health Spokesperson Melaney Arnold.
More than a third of the patients go sick after eating a salad from McDonald’s. Arnold says they are working with the CDC to determine other sources of the bug. That includes fresh imported produce like raspberries and lettuce.
