It has been one year since the Vandalia City Council approved a contract with FAYCO and the Fayette County Soil and Water Conservation District to add $1.25 to the bill of all City of Vandalia water customers. With the agreement, $1 of that fee from each customer’s fees to FAYCO with $0.25 going to FCSWCD for their recycling programs. With the contract being one year old, Cemetery and Landfill Committee Chairman Ken Hubler asked for Kim Taylor of FAYCO and Karen Sanders of FCSWCD be present at Monday night’s committee meeting to look at the financial aspect of the recycling programs and to decide what the contract truly means as he says it is interpreted in two different ways.
Hubler turned the legal explanation of things over to City Attorney Ryan Connor who explained that Hubler had requested financial information from both entities and that with FAYCO, they were looking to see if the program was being deemed viable and where it stands financially.
Taylor and Sanders both handed out information to the council members in attendance showing the revenue and expenditures for each of the programs and then took questions from the committee. And we will hear more about the meeting tomorrow on Newscenter.
