Fayette County Court began using a new system for felony cases last Wednesday, now using a grand jury to decide indictments. Well over 20 felony cases were brought before a grand jury and Fayette County States Attorney Josh Morrison says the system could save time and money for the county.
Morrison says the grand jury system also involves the county’s residents more as they get a closer look into the justice system in the county when they sit on a grand jury.
As Morrison said, the grand jury went through 26 cases on the first grand jury day on Wednesday, returning a bill of indictment in each case.
