A Buffalo, Missouri man charged in connection to the recent fatal pedestrian accident on Interstate 70 in western Fayette County has been indicted. 60-year old Ray L. Ryan appeared in Fayette County Court on Thursday with his attorney and was advised of the bill of indictment returned against him during Wednesday’s grand jury setting. Ryan then waived formal arraignment and entered a plea of not guilty as well as a demand for a speedy trial by jury. Ryan has been charged with Failure to Report an Accident involving Personal Injury or Death. Illinois State Police in June released that they had identified the vehicle that was alleged to have left the scene of the fatal pedestrian accident that occurred on the night of June 20th and led to the death of 46-year old Peter F. Peters of Elmira, Ontario, Canada. State Police reported that the follow up investigation had identified the vehicle that was allegedly involved in the accident in Ohio and Ryan was arrested at that time and was then later transferred to Fayette County. Ryan remains in the Fayette County Jail on $500,000 bond and will make his next appearance in court on August 14 at 10:00am for a pre-trial hearing.
