(St. Louis, MO) — Tommy Pham hit the go-ahead, two-run single in the fourth inning as the Cardinals rallied past the Reds 6-4 in St. Louis. The Cards tacked on two-more runs in the frame to extend the lead. Matt Carpenter and Dexter Fowler homered and John Gant came away with the win. Jordan Hicks allowed a run in the ninth but locked down the save as St. Louis avoided the three-game sweep. The Cardinals enter the All-Star break at 48-and-46, seven-and-a-half games behind Chicago in the NL Central. Anthony DeSclafani took the loss for Cincinnati, which is last in the Central at 43-and-53. Adam Duvall had two RBI in defeat.

(San Diego, CA) — The Cubs led 5-0 after two innings and beat the Padres 7-4 to complete a three-game sweep in San Diego. Jon Lester improved to 12-and-2 with the win. Chicago has the best record in the National League at 55-and-38. That would be fifth in the American League.
