First Lady Diana Rauner is urging the public to come out this weekend for the grand re-opening of the Governor’s mansion in Springfield. Restoration of the mansion, which was built in 1855, began a few years ago. The building was closed to the public last year for major rehab work, all funded with private dollars. Mrs. Rauner says it’s almost ready.
The mansion will now be fully ADA compliant, feature a new visitors center and works from Illinois artists. Tickets will be handed out starting at 9 am this morning for tours of the mansion. There is a five ticket limit per person.
