(St. Louis, MO) — Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina was named to the National League All-Star team. He will replace Giants catcher Buster Posey, who has a hip injury and will not participate in the midsummer classic on July 17th in Washington, D.C. This will be Molina’s ninth selection. He is hitting .279 with 13 home runs and 38 RBIs.

(Chicago, IL) — The Cardinals open a two-game Interleague series with the White Sox tonight in Chicago. Miles Mikolas, who was named to the All-Star Game, will start the opener for St. Louis. He is 9-and-3 with a 2.63 ERA. Dylan Covey will start for the White Sox. The Redbirds will host Cincinnati for three games this weekend in the final series before the All-Star break.

(San Francisco, CA) — The Cubs lost 2-1 to the Giants in the 11th inning on Pedro Sandoval’s RBI-single in San Francisco. Chicago starter Kyle Hendricks pitched into the ninth and allowed one unearned run, walked one and struck out eight in a no-decision. The Cubs managed only four hits. Addison Russell drove in the Chicago run with a third inning ground out. The two teams will meet again tonight with Jose Quintana starting for the Cubs. Johnny Cueto will start for the Giants.
