The Fayette County Board is set to discuss a resolution to make the county a “Sanctuary for the Life of Unborn Human Beings.” On the agenda for its regular scheduled meeting to be held tonight at the Fayette County Courthouse, is the discussion and possible approval to become a sanctuary county for the unborn, essentially meaning the county’s leaders would choose life if the question would arise before them. The issue is one recently approved by a county board vote of 8-1 in neighboring Effingham County last month after much discussion for and against the topic over the course of two meetings. As of now, Effingham County is the only county in the state to have passed such a resolution, so Fayette County would be just the second county to have the status of being a sanctuary for the unborn should a motion be made and approved at this evening’s meeting. The Fayette County Board meets at 7pm in the large courtroom of the Fayette County Courthouse and meetings are open to the public.
