An 18-year old Springfield woman who is alleged to have drug a Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputy with her car during a traffic stop is set to appear in Fayette County Court at 11am this morning. Adriana E. Brown is scheduled to appear for a pre-trial hearing on the felony charges of Aggravated Battery of a Peace Officer, Reckless Conduct Resulting in Great Bodily Harm, Aggravated Fleeing and Obstructing Justice as well as six traffic citations that resulted from the attempted traffic stop in April. During the traffic stop, Brown is alleged to have left the scene of the traffic stop with Deputy Ronnie Stevens partially in the vehicle after Stevens detected the odor of cannabis and then leaned into the car and attempted to retrieve a baggie he viewed that contained a white powdery substance that he suspected was drugs. Brown allegedly drove off and went a distance before Stevens was able to release himself from the vehicle. Brown was then located and apprehended on Interstate 70. During a May court appearance, defense counsel Monroe McWard stated that due to a recent hospitalization of Brown at that time for mental health issues, he would likely be filing a motion for fitness. However, at this time, no such motion has yet been filed.
