Two members of the Vandalia FFA organization and one area educator were honored with awards during the 90th Annual Illinois State FFA convention held last week in Springfield. Recent VCHS graduate Nic Wollerman received runner up honors in the State FFA Public Speaking contest for his speech that talked about the critical shortage of agricultural teachers in the state. Wollerman was also honored with the Outstanding Chapter Reporter award. Dalton Whitten, another recent graduate was honored with the Outstanding Chapter President award and was also named as the 2018-2019 Section 19 President. In addition to the student awards, Julie Wollerman, Regional Superintendent for Bond, Fayette, Effingham, Montgomery and Christian Counties, was honored by being named a recipient of an Honorary FFA Degree.
