Crop conditions are declining a bit as hot weather persists across Illinois. Winter Wheat harvest advanced to 30 percent complete, and 58 percent of the crop is rated in good to excellent condition. That’s a drop from the previous week says Crop Statistician Mark Schleusener. As for other crops, Schleusener gives an update.
81 percent of corn is rated in good to excellent condition. Average statewide topsoil moisture came in at 4 percent very short, 16 percent short, 68 percent adequate and 12 percent surplus. And, that is a little drier than the previous week.
