The Collaborative Effort to work with the community and the Vandalia School District on several different areas, which has been named Vandalia ONE, has another goal they are going to be working on. The met this past week and discussed their goals for the starts of the upcoming school year—with those goals to be establishing mental health professionals available for Vandalia School students, there will be a food pantry program to provide 150 meals over the weekends for students at the Elementary School and also an after school program with the YMCA of Fayette County for students in 4th thru 12th grade. And, Vandalia Superintendent of Schools Dr. Jennifer Garrison says they are also working on an interim goal of Workforce Development.
The program will work with Kaskaskia College, the Chamber of Commerce and other groups. Vandalia ONE is the name of the effort, with ONE standing for Own it, Name it, Embrace it.
