Last month was the warmest May on record in Illinois. The statewide average temperatures for May came in at nearly 71 degrees. That’s almost 8 degrees above normal says State Climatologist Jim Angel.
Statewide average rainfall for May was nearly 4 inches. That’s below normal but local totals varied quite a bit. Northern and Southwesthern Illinois got the most rain last month while parts of east central and southeastern Illinois were the driest.
