(St. Louis, MO) — Jameson Taillon tossed eight shutout innings to lead the Pirates past the Cardinals 4-0 at Busch Stadium. Taillon permitted just three hits while striking out six as he improved to 3-and-4. Francisco Cervelli tripled in a run, while Josh Bell, Corey Dickerson and Colin Moran also plated runs for the Bucs, who have won two-of-three. Miles Mikolas gave up two runs, one earned, over six frames as he fell 6-and-1. Marcell Ozuna had two of the four hits for the Cards, who have alternated wins and losses over their last six.
(Flushing, NY) — The Cubs scored three runs in the seventh and three more in the eighth to pull out a 7-4 win over the Mets at Citi Field. Kris Bryant plated the go-ahead run in the seventh and Kyle Schwarber added some insurance with a three-run homer in the eighth as the Cubs won for the fifth time in six games. Schwarber drove in four, while Ben Zobrist had three hits and an RBI in the victory. Randy Rosario picked up the win and Brandon Morrow posted his 14th save. Brandon Nimmo hit a two-run homer for the Mets, who have dropped seven-of-nine. Paul Sewald took the loss.
