(Chicago, IL) — Governor Rauner and his wife, Diana, are moving back into the Illinois governor’s mansion following a 15-million-dollar renovation project. The work took more than a year and was financed purely with private donations. Rauner says the mansion will not only be home for himself and his wife, but will also be more of a tourist attraction and a place for the public to learn about the state. He said the mansion will be open to the public for more hours and with more historical and education programs. The mansion was built in 1855 and Rauner says that in addition to permanent exhibits about the house itself, there will be other shows like an upcoming display of work by Illinois artists.
