(St. Louis, MO) — The Cardinals gave up five runs over the final two innings and lost 6-2 to the Phillies at Busch Stadium. Stater Luke Weaver allowed just four hits and one run in seven innings, but fell to 3-and-3 with the tough-luck loss. Marcell Ozuna and Jedd Gyorko drove in runs in the eighth inning for St. Louis.

(St. Louis, MO) — The Cardinals are moving pitcher Adam Wainwright to the 60-day disabled list. The 36-year-old has been dealing with pain in his pitching elbow and there is no timetable for his return. Wainwright is 1-and-3 with a 4.00 ERA in four starts this season. It’s the third stint on the DL this season for the three-time All-Star.

Already without perennial All-Star Yadier Molina, the Cardinals have placed Carson Kelly on the 10-day disabled list with a strained right hamstring. Catcher Steve Baron has been called up from Triple-A Memphis. Molina is recovering from groin surgery.

(Cumberland, GA) — Rain was the big winner in Atlanta last night as the Cubs and Braves were postponed at SunTrust Park. The game will be made up on Thursday, August 30th. The Cubs will open a four-game series against the Reds tonight in Cincinnati. The teams play a doubleheader tomorrow. Chicago is 22-and-18 on the year.
