(St. Louis, MO) — Yadier Molina hit a two-run double in the first inning as the Cardinals stomped the Reds 4-2 at Busch Stadium. Michael Wacha only allowed one run in six-and-two-third innings to pick up the win for St. Louis. Jose Martinez went 3-for-5 with an RBI to help the Cardinals improve to 11-and-8. Alex Blandino tried to ignite a late rally for Cincinnati with a RBI-single in the ninth inning. Brandon Finnegan was charged with the loss after he gave up four runs in three frames. The Reds have lost three in-a-row as they dropped to an MLB worst 3-and-16 on the season.
(Denver, CO) — The Cubs racked up 18 hits as they crushed the Rockies 16-5 at Coors Field. Javier Baez and Kyle Schwarber homered and each drove in four runs for the Cubbies, who improved to 9-and-8. The game got out of hand with a seven-run Chicago sixth inning. Kyle Hendricks tossed five innings of three-run ball to earn the win. Rockies’ starter Jon Gray allowed eight hits and seven runs over five innings to fall to 1-and-4. Nolan Arenado homered in the loss as the Rox fell to 2-and-5 at home.
