(Chicago, IL) — Republican state lawmakers are voicing their unequivocal opposition to plans for a graduated income tax in Illinois. State Senator Mike Connelley of DuPage County says moving away from a flat tax would be an economic disaster. Senate Minority Leader Bill Brady says it could cost the state the new Amazon headquarters, ruining what Brady calls the best chance of any city in the nation to win those 50-thousand jobs. The graduated tax is being pushed by Democratic candidate for governor, J.B. Pritzker, as a way to generate more money for schools.
