Karen Elizabeth Bolyard, 74, of Brownstown, passed away at 8:59pm, Friday, April 6, 2018 at Fayette County Hospital.

Karen Elizabeth Bolyard was born November 13, 1943, in Vandalia, the daughter of Fred and Margie (Cunningham) Schmitt Sr. She married Elvy Gene Bolyard on December 26, 1960; he preceded her in death October 14, 2009. Karen was retired from Owens Brockway in Vandalia. She was a member of the I.A.M. local 1613 until her stroke in 2005.
Our family will remember Karen for her giving nature, bubbly personality, homemade cookies, gifts, and laughter.
She is survived by her son, Jeff Bolyard of Vandalia; sisters, Kathy Bogart and husband Kenny, Debby Woolsey, Jane Hawk, and Barbara Atchely; brothers, David Schmitt and wife Lynn and Terry Schmitt; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Linda England; and brother, Fred Schmitt Jr.
Oh God, in Your mercy and compassion, we humbly pray for our sister Karen. We beg Your mercy that she may be joined into everlasting life with You and share in Your eternal happiness. We ask this in Jesus’ name,
