(Springfield, IL) — Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner says the state will find the money to pay court ordered raises to state workers. Though he doesn’t know where the state will look. The governor told reporters yesterday in Springfield that his budget has a 350 million-dollar surplus that could be used to pay the step raises for state workers. But that surplus may not exist, lawmakers have already shot down some of the ways that the governor planned to find that money. No one is sure yet just how much money the ordered pay raises could cost.
