The case of a St. Peter man charged with murder has been continued in Fayette County Court. 24-year old Alexander R. Beccue of St. Peter was scheduled for a pre-trial hearing and subpoena return on Tuesday. However, defense attorney Ed Deters informed the court that he had not received the returns from the clerk. With the returns expected to be released to Deters following the hearing, a new pre-trial was set in the matter for April 24 at 1pm. The previously scheduled trial date of June 18 will also remain in place. Beccue is charged with 2 counts of First Degree Murder as information states that Beccue allegedly “with the intent to kill Joshua K. Smith, shot Joshua K. Smith in the head” with what information from an unlawful possession charge against Beccue states was allegedly a .38 revolver handgun. Beccue is currently in custody of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office and remains in the Fayette County jail on $1 million bond.
